2020年4月18日、オンライン上で開催されたWorld Literacy Summit 2020にて、本学の名誉博士であるArmene Modi氏が、アルベルト・シュバイツァー賞を受賞しました。
アルベルト・シュバイツァー賞は、「オーストリア・アルベルト・シュバイツァー協会」により、毎年、人道支援や教育、国際貢献、文化など各分野で顕著な功績をあげてこられた方を讃えるものです。
Armene Modi氏は、1993年から本学ELP（English Language Program）で教鞭を執り、退任後の1998年、母国インドにてNPO法人「Ashta No Kai」を立ち上げ、インドのプネ市郊外シルル地域10村における女性の自立支援と女子教育の普及活動に長年尽力されてきました。

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all, friends and supporters of Ashta No Kai, without whose generosity and support we would never have been able to reach the many milestones that we have, milestones that have made a positive difference in the lives of thousands of our village women and girls.
Let me once again express my deepest appreciation and sincerest gratitude to you all for believing in our cause, and for extending your warm encouragement and wonderful support for over two decades: support that has enabled us to educate and empower thousands of women and girls in our rural communities.
Who would have dreamed when we set off in 1998 that our village women would become change agents solving the problems in their villages and that our girls would one day become doctors, dentists and engineers? It is thanks to your support that this has become a reality.
