J. F. Oberlin University 's educational goal is to cultivate internationally knowledgeable individuals with rich knowledge based on Christian principles.
Based on this philosophy, the "Flight Operations Course" aims to train pilots, one of the leading professions in the global era. The aviation industry is undergoing a period of dramatic change in order to meet the conflicting needs of high safety and cost-effectiveness, but even amidst these changes, training excellent pilots remains the biggest challenge and most urgent task for airlines.
We have created a learning system aimed at training pilots who are true global citizens capable of succeeding anywhere in the world.
Course features
From the fall of his second year, he conducted full-scale pilot training at CAE Phoenix–Aviation Academy in Mesa, Arizona, USA, at J. F. F. Oberlin University Flight Training Center. Train from the basics to advanced with modern facilities and Piper Archer TX/Seminole, and hone your aviation English and practical skills in an English-speaking environment. The campus also has DA42/B737-800 FTD and A320 APT engines.
This four-year, full-time residential program integrates training, lectures, and daily life. Experienced instructors provide direct guidance, and at the US training site, experienced pilots serve as counselors and liaison staff to support the training. The program is designed to foster a culture of safety, discipline, and teamwork through friendly competition with peers.
We cultivate "employability" through a three-pronged approach: career guidance from the early stages of enrollment, overseas training, and language and character education. Our alumni network and extensive support further enhance our ability to secure employment with airlines. The academic department itself prioritizes "high employment rates" as a key selling point, making its support system clearly visible.
Course learning
In the first year, students learn the fundamentals of aerodynamics, aviation regulations, and meteorology, and gain basic piloting experience through simulator training. From the fall of the second year, full-scale flight training begins in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, where students practically acquire piloting skills and aviation English. From the third year onward, students continue overseas flight training while taking courses in aviation safety and operations management. In the fourth year, they develop the comprehensive judgment skills necessary for safe operation through advanced aviation English and case studies.
The campus is equipped with DA42 and B737-800 FTD (Flight Training Devices), an A320APT (Procedure Trainer), and an ATC (Air Traffic Control Simulator) to help students develop their expertise. These simulators allow students to learn how to handle various situations as part of their pilot training, maintenance management, and air traffic control courses. They are also used to learn about aircraft structure and mechanics.
To cultivate internationally-minded aviation professionals, we place great importance on practical learning abroad. At our CAE training facility in Mesa, Arizona, USA, we conduct authentic flight training using the latest training aircraft in a stable climate. Students gradually acquire skills ranging from the fundamentals of safe operation to advanced piloting techniques. In addition, overseas training includes visits to airlines and airport facilities, allowing students to experience the global aviation industry firsthand. Through learning in a multicultural environment, we aim to cultivate pilots and aviation professionals who possess both an international perspective and practical skills.
