He dedicated himself to soccer, making his kicking power his strong point.

When I was in second grade of elementary school, a friend invited me to join the soccer club. At the time, I wasn't particularly passionate about soccer, but I started playing because I thought it would be nice to be able to play with friends on weekends. In fifth grade, I started playing as a goalkeeper in matches. I was very happy about that. I continued to play soccer in high school as well. It wasn't a powerhouse school, but it was a team known for its quick transitions between offense and defense and its counter-attack-centered offense. I had the strength of being able to kick the ball up to 70 meters away at all times, so I was expected to be the starting point of attacks.

Choosing a career path was a continuous struggle. To be honest, I couldn't decide whether to continue playing soccer even in college. But when I faced my own feelings, I just couldn't give up on soccer. While researching universities that accept practice participants, I learned about J. F. Oberlin University. What I actually felt at J. F. Oberlin University was an even more homely atmosphere and the friendly relationships among the club members than I had imagined. The staff invited me, saying, 'Why don't you go to our place?' which was a deciding factor and led me to go to J. F. Oberlin University.

The heavy responsibility of being the "last line of defense"

The goalkeeper position is the "last line of defense" at the very back of the team. Even a small mistake can directly lead to a goal being conceded, so you have to bear a heavy responsibility with a strong sense of duty. Because I'm not particularly physically gifted, I used to worry that "if the opponent takes a shot, it might go in."

To compensate for those physical weaknesses, I focused on refining my own playing style. If the opponent is taking shots and they're going in, then I just need to prevent them from taking shots. I raise the defensive line to eliminate their shooting opportunities. I approach each game without being intimidated by my opponents and without letting them get the better of me mentally.

I want to contribute to the team in any way I can.

The current team is attractive for its attacking power. I really hope you keep an eye on the players up front. My goal is to contribute to the team, whether I play in matches or not. Even if we're not playing, we want to make sure to raise our voices and work hard to energize the J. F. Oberlin University soccer club.

My dream for the future is to become a professional soccer player. I was inspired by my seniors who are pursuing their professional dreams, and I decided to set it as my goal as well. I'm still not very good at soccer. But that's precisely why I have nothing to lose. I want to keep challenging myself without fear of making mistakes and build confidence as a soccer player.
