To broadly study the arts, I chose J. F. Oberlin University

I started cheerleading in the third grade of elementary school. I had been doing dance before, but I was so impressed by how the older students worked together to perform that I thought, "I want to try that too!" The club team had strict training, but we encouraged each other and worked hard at the competition.

I aimed to advance to J. F. Oberlin University because I wanted to study in College of Performing and Visual Arts. I was interested in all kinds of arts, including theater, dance, and music, and the appeal was that I could learn a wide range of things. Currently, I am studying imaging and design, and I feel that the knowledge I gained as a general education has been very useful.

Actually, when I was deciding which university to attend, I was unsure whether to continue cheerleading. However, when I was in my third year of high school, we were hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, and my final competition was canceled. I felt that I would regret it if I quit the sport at that point, so I decided to continue cheerleading in college.

I want to focus on being "beautiful".

Unlike up to high school, J. F. Oberlin University students take the lead in creating their own practice menus. In particular, third-year students, who are in the executive year, are expected to take initiative and play the role of energizing the entire team. When I reached the executive grade and was named captain, I was honestly confused. I wasn't good at saying harsh things and lacked the confidence to lead the members. But now, I'm gradually starting to see my own image of a leader. I want to be a leader who leads everyone toward our goals, and at the same time, a friendly leader whom people can rely on when we're in trouble.

J. F. Oberlin University 's performance is characterized by being "clean." We are committed to no-mistakes and pay close attention to the beauty of the details. J. F. Oberlin University has always valued basic training, but in our generation, we decided to place greater emphasis on technique practice with tournaments in mind. There are still rough aspects, but I feel that awareness of techniques has increased and helped the team level up.

Always blooming, performing in a way that touches the hearts of the audience.

The slogan for 2023 is "Everlasting Love." The word "to bloom" also carries the meaning of a smile, and I practice daily to perform performances full of J. F. Oberlin University 's signature smile. Also, the word "jousho" (meaning "rise" or "rise" aiming higher) and "constant victory" (always winning over oneself) are also used as a metaphor. Heading into the JAPAN CUP in August, each of us will improve our skills and aim to reach the finals. Some members are injured, so we're still far from a finished product, but since it's our last club activity, we want to give it our all so we don't have any regrets.

I have been cheerleading since elementary school, and I have always been encouraged by seeing the older students work hard. Next time, we want to perform in a way that moves the hearts of those who watch. J. F. Oberlin University We will continue to strive so that our customers can truly convey our unique qualities.
