A four-year program to acquire language skills and specialized knowledge.
You will thoroughly study the language you chose at the time of application from your first year. In the second year, students utilize the language skills learned in the first year to acquire specialized knowledge from three Major options that resonate with the global community. A feature of this group is that the advancement (graduation) requirement includes not only university credits but also scores from external exams. We offer a step-by-step curriculum that raises language proficiency to a certain level, allowing students to graduate with solid language skills.
Year 1: Students focus on studying the language selected during the application process.
At this academic cluster, students select a non-native language from four options at the time of application: English, Chinese, Japanese, or Trilingual Track (Korean), and study intensively as their first foreign language. From the first year, students aim to acquire language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing, etc.) through the "Basic Education Subjects" and "Language Skills Subjects," preparing students to take Major subjects from the second year onward. One essential part of this is the language test set for each language track.
For the English track, TOEFL®, TOEIC®, or IELTS™ are required; for the Chinese track, HSK; for the Japanese track, JLPT; and for Korean, TOPIK. Meeting the specified score requirements for each language is a graduation requirement.
Five language tracks for intensive language learning (Years 1-4)
English Track
This program provides intensive training in the skills necessary to learn specialized knowledge in English. Through classes conducted in English and out-of-class learning using online materials, you can acquire high-level English skills that can be used in a variety of situations.
Chinese Track
Even if you have no prior experience with Chinese, you can build your skills through an overwhelming amount of learning and daily immersion in the language. You can acquire specialized knowledge in Chinese, hone your skills through studying abroad, and gain advanced Chinese language proficiency that you can use in your work.
Japanese Track
This program aims to help students whose first language is not Japanese achieve a level of Japanese proficiency that is widely accepted in society. It fosters the ability to deeply study Japanese society and culture in Japanese, and to contribute to multicultural communities.
Trilingual Truck
Starting with students entering in the 2026 academic year, applicants will be able to select the Trilingual Track when applying. In this case, students will aim to become trilingual, including their first language, by studying Korean in their first year and either English or Chinese in their second year.
Second year: Begin studying specialized subjects in addition to language.
From the second year onward, students can choose a second foreign language and switch to the "Trilingual Track," and also choose one of three Global Studies subjects (Major subjects: "Public Relations Major," "Language Inquiry Major," or "Cultural Co-Creation Major" to deepen their expertise that leads to a career. It is also attractive that there is a wide range of options, from social sciences like sociology, business administration, and political science to language and culture such as cultural anthropology, art, and gender. Additionally, as a place to practically apply the language learned, everyone is generally required to study abroad for about 15 weeks during the spring or fall semester of their second year.
Three Major to enhance your expertise for your future (Years 2–4)
Public Relations Major
We train individuals to handle public relations for companies, local governments, NGOs/NPOs, schools, and other organizations.
Language Inquiry Major
We cultivate individuals who can tackle problem-solving using advanced communication skills backed by strong language proficiency.
Cultural Co-Creation Major
To thrive in today's multicultural society, we cultivate individuals equipped with cross-cultural understanding and tolerance, strong communication skills that transcend language barriers, and specialized knowledge.
Global Studies Subjects (Specialized Subjects) (Elective in 2nd Year to 4th Year)
We offer a wide range of specialized subjects including communication, sociology, business administration, political science, linguistics, cultural anthropology, history, culture, arts, gender, and interdisciplinary Area. You will select 32 credits from Major subjects chosen after enrollment from three Major (Public Relations, Language Inquiry, and Cultural Co-creation).
Participation is mandatory for all students; approximately 15 weeks of overseas study.
College of Global Communication includes a "one-semester study abroad" program as part of its educational program. During the spring or fall semester of the second year (third or fourth semester), students will spend approximately 15 weeks at partner universities, accumulating learning and experiences that cannot be obtained elsewhere.
Studying abroad
In addition to language learning, you can gain experience in understanding different cultures and societies through volunteer activities and cultural experiences within the local community.

*Those who wish to pursue the Japanese language track can study at partner universities in Okinawa or Hokkaido, but studying abroad is also possible.
Year 3: Study Major subjects in the language of study
Building upon the language skills cultivated by the second year, students will begin to seriously study their specialized fields using the language they have chosen in their respective tracks.
Students take Major courses such as 'Public Relations Major,' 'Language Inquiry Major,' and 'Cultural Co-Creation Major,' deepening both academic theory and practical knowledge. Since classes are conducted in your chosen language, you can acquire specialized knowledge while honing advanced language skills.
Fourth year: Students also take advanced specialized courses.
This stage involves more practical learning, with an eye on life after graduation. Students apply the specialized knowledge acquired by their third year, developing problem-solving skills in real-world situations through exercises and fieldwork. Furthermore, they are required to systematize their learning and compile it into tangible results through their graduation thesis or research project. This establishes the practical skills necessary to thrive in the international community and in the field of multicultural coexistence.
