Unit Overview
We cultivate the ability to support the diverse growth and learning of children and young people in various settings such as schools, communities, and homes. Based on education, psychology, and developmental support, we develop practical skills that enable students to address challenges through flexible inquiry.

Developmental psychology
This course explores how humans change and grow throughout their lives from the perspective of "lifespan development." Specifically, it uses the latest psychological theories to unravel how genetic and environmental influences, intellectual development, emotional bonds like "attachment," and the formation of each individual's "humanity" and "personality." It also addresses contemporary issues such as the characteristics of developmental disorders (ASD) and dementia in old age, deepening understanding from a biological and neurological perspective. Through this learning, students will develop the ability to re-examine their own and others' "past, present, and future" from a psychological viewpoint and apply this knowledge to better interpersonal relationships and communication in daily life.

Driven by a desire to test the knowledge gained in class in a real-world setting, I participated in part-time jobs and internships at after-school programs. Based on the experiences I gained there, I continue to explore the themes of safe spaces and self-esteem for children in the Soma-Futaba region of Fukushima Prefecture.
