Strengths of the academic group

A group of students that cultivates individuals with "art + something extra" skills who can meet the needs of society.

Through the "Major-Minor System," students can flexibly combine their specialized field (theater/dance, music, visual arts) with knowledge and perspectives from other disciplines. This allows them to acquire "art plus α" skills, such as design thinking, a perspective on social issues, and the application of technology, in addition to the techniques and sensibilities of art itself. Complex combinations, such as video x music or stage x art management, are also encouraged, fostering expressive and practical abilities that meet the diverse needs of society.

Learning to rediscover your interests and talents

Through exposure to diverse fields of expression such as theater, dance, music, and visual arts, students can re-examine their own "interests" and "aptitudes." In their first year, they discover new possibilities through a wide range of foundational subjects, and from their second year onward, they clarify their direction of expression by deepening their knowledge in a specialized field aligned with their interests. With a flexible curriculum that can be tackled even by beginners, and thorough support from faculty members with extensive practical experience, an environment is in place where each student can find their own unique form of expression and career path, and grow creatively.

A diverse range of subjects and a faculty of leading experts supporting each area of learning.

There are abundant opportunities to learn directly from active professional faculty in each field, covering the three Major of theater and dance, music, and visual arts. Classes emphasize a balance between theory and practice, reflecting both professional knowledge and the realities of real-world realities where people are actively working. In addition, there are numerous opportunities to share the results of learning, such as presentations, performances, and exhibitions both inside and outside the university, expanding new opportunities for expressive activities through faculty networks. This allows students to develop not only technical skills but also sensibilities as artists, a sense of the field, and practical skills.

Abundant practical opportunities, environment, and facilities led by students.

The area offers hands-on learning that students take the lead in. In Theater & Dance Major, there are performances (OPAL) featuring professional directors and choreographers, as well as overseas training; in Music Major, individual instruction in performance practice; and in Visual Arts Major, diverse creative activities (design, video, textiles, fine arts, etc.) are the main focus of learning. The facility offers comprehensive exercises and practical courses, as well as facilities and equipment that serve as stages for exhibitions and presentations, allowing students to enhance their expressive and execution skills through hands-on experience in creating and performing. The learning environment is also active for students themselves, providing an environment where students can gain a sense of accomplishment by creating together with their peers.
