Students from partner Northwest University visit J. F. Oberlin University
Main content
On Thursday, May 14, about 30 students and faculty from Northwest University, a partner institution of our university, visited J. F. Oberlin University. The university is located in Seattle, USA, the center of the aviation industry, and is actively engaged in exchanges with our university as the overseas training destination for the College of Aviation Airport Management Course.
This time, two College of Aviation students who had been attending Northwest University for overseas training accompanied us all day to guide us.
As part of the university's distinctive service-learning program, the students visited Bamboo Village Farm in Machida City, with which the university has a partnership. Through volunteer work assisting farmers, they learned about traditional Japanese agriculture and the philosophy of farm assistance. They also experienced traditional Japanese food and culture during lunch at a renovated old house.
After the farm experience, we moved to the Tama Campus and attended an English lecture titled "Olympic Flame" by Associate Professor Ogiyama (College of Aviation Airport Management Course). We deepened our understanding of risk management in torch transportation during the COVID-19 pandemic.
From the evening of the same day, a reception was held on campus to deepen friendships among students. Many College of Aviation students studying abroad at Northwest University this year also participated, actively gathering information and making friends in English for future overseas training, raising expectations for the training starting in the fall semester.
