On Monday, October 12 (a public holiday), students from the J. F. Oberlin University Shinjuku Campus participated in the operation of the Events through PR, advertising, and booth participation at the 'Okubo Festival' (hosted by the Shin-Okubo Shopping Street Promotion Association).
Nishiyama Seminar (Associate Professor Mamoru Nishiyama), who mainly studies advertising and promotion, and students taking seminars taught by the same faculty collaborated to promote Shin-Okubo Shopping Street and J. F. Oberlin University using their SNS and official website, as well as post-event reporting.
The Hyakuzakura Festival Executive Committee (the organization that runs the school festival held at the Shinjuku campus) and students from Professor Nishiyama's seminar set up an exhibit.
Furthermore, Professor Atsushi Ogaki 's "Business Exercise (Video Marketing)" (Professor Atsushi Ogaki) recorded the Events on video and worked on producing a report video.
The Hyakuzakura Festival Executive Committee set up a "yo-yo fishing" booth and simultaneously promoted the Hyakuzakura Festival, which is scheduled to be held on December 5th and 6th.
In the Nishiyama Seminar, we utilized the concept of "A town where angels live," which is promoted by the Shin-Okubo shopping district, and set up stalls featuring angels: "Angel's Tear Scooping" (super ball scooping) and "Angel's Ring Toss." Through projects that incorporate the local concept, we hope that visitors will enjoy themselves.
We focused on creating a booth that would allow people to enjoy themselves.
In both cases, many visitors, including families and people from diverse cultural backgrounds, participated, providing an opportunity for visitors to interact with each other.
In preparing for the event, we collaborated with local residents to develop the plan. By involving the community not only in the operation on the day but also from the preparation stage, the students were able to deepen their connections with the local community and put their university studies into practice.
J. F. Oberlin University Since its establishment in 2019, the Shinjuku Campus has been engaged in community collaboration activities.
We will continue our activities to deepen students' learning through collaboration and cooperation with the local community, and contribute to promoting the region's appeal and the development of the local community.
