An interview article by Professor Soichi Tsukamoto of College of Arts and Sciences (Media Journalism Program) discussing Japan-North Korea relations was published in the Niigata Nippo.

Professor Tsukamoto has long been engaged in reporting on the Korean Peninsula, including covering the first-ever Japan-North Korea summit in 2002 in Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea, as an NHK reporter.

In the interview, Professor Tsukamoto analyzed the latest situation in North Korea. He pointed out that while Japan maintains its principle of seeking a comprehensive resolution of "abductions, nuclear, and missiles," it also needs to seek clues for negotiations with North Korea through proactive diplomatic efforts.
