Two domestic exchange students from Okinawa present the results of their six months of study.

On Friday, July 31st, a presentation of the results of two students from Okinawa who studied at our university for six months using the domestic study abroad program was held at the Machida Campus.
Domestic study abroad is a system that allows students from universities in Okinawa and Hokkaido, with which we have credit transfer agreements, to study at our university for six months or one year. Credits earned at the study abroad institution will be recognized towards graduation requirements at the student's home university.

This academic year, starting in April, we accepted nine students from Okinawa International University and Okinawa Christian Gakuin University, two of whom completed their six-month study abroad period. The two studied a wide range of fields in our university's College of Arts and Sciences and College of Business Management, and deepened their learning in a different environment through seminar activities and student interactions.
Aya Itomizu broadened her horizons through her studies in Tokyo.
Nissa Itokazu, who studied domestically from Okinawa International University, took a step beyond her life in Okinawa and aimed to broaden her horizons by studying in the Tokyo metropolitan area, so she challenged herself to study domestically.
At our university's College of Arts and Sciences, Mr. Itokazu was exposed to a wide range of classes and aimed to improve his English and communication skills through interactions with international students.

When asked what prompted her to decide to study abroad within Japan, she recalled, "As I went through university life, I started to wonder if this was okay, so I thought I'd try studying abroad at a university in Tokyo for six months." She said that studying at the university was stimulating because of the different environment from Okinawa and the encounters with students who had diverse ways of thinking. "There was never a moment when I regretted coming. The course content was excellent, and the people around me were all at a high level in their respective fields, so there were times when I felt anxious. But by spending time in that environment, my own skills improved, and I was able to achieve results. I'm really glad I came," she said.
Mizuki Shimabukuro studied new fields such as aviation and railways.
Mizuki Shimabukuro, who was studying abroad from Okinawa Christian University, came to our university with the aim of gaining a new perspective by studying and living at a university outside of Okinawa.
Ms. Shimabukuro, who was interested in studying tourism and aviation among the courses offered at this university, took courses on aviation and railways, subjects she had not had the opportunity to study in Okinawa, and deepened her understanding of these new fields.

"I wanted to study and live at a university outside Okinawa. One of the reasons I decided to study domestically was J. F. Oberlin University my interest in classes on tourism and aviation."
In actual study at our university, I actively participated not only in specialized classes but also in seminar activities. In an environment different from usual, I was able to gain a lot of learning and insights.

Through their six-month study abroad program within Japan, the two students challenged themselves in new environments and experienced a wide range of learning and interactions. Building on these experiences, they will now take new steps in their respective fields.
