Disaster relief volunteer work in the Noto Peninsula (Summer 2026)

Since the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, our university has planned student disaster volunteer programs centered on Service-Learning Center, with many students and faculty continuously engaged in recovery support activities.
In response to the 2024 "Noto Peninsula Earthquake" and "Noto Peninsula Heavy Rain Disaster," students have been continuously engaged in disaster volunteer activities in various fields as part of their support for recovery and reconstruction efforts toward disaster areas and victims, as well as the university's motto "Learning and Serving People."
In the third year, 2026, we continued to plan volunteer programs, and during August, 20 volunteer students and faculty members from three groups across the academic cluster and grade levels visited the Noto Peninsula to participate in disaster volunteer work.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone at Hokuriku Gakuin University for their cooperation in coordinating our activities, to everyone at the Tomikura Mission of the United Church of Christ in Japan and the National Noto Youth Exchange Center for providing accommodation, to everyone at Shokei Gakuin University and Kaga College of Nursing for their collaboration on-site, to the local volunteer groups, and to everyone involved in this program.
J. F. Oberlin University plans to continue collaborating with local partner organizations to provide ongoing support to the Noto Peninsula.
