Program Overview

It's no exaggeration to say that everything around us is made up of chemical substances. Our bodies are also composed of chemical substances. Chemistry is a field that deals with things that are so close to us. In this program, students will learn about fundamental areas of chemistry such as inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, and analytical chemistry, as well as applied areas such as connections to society and relationships with living organisms, and experiments will also be emphasized.

Chemistry Experiment I

Chemistry is a field of science that places particular emphasis on experimentation. In this subject, together with the subsequent Chemistry Experiment II, students will learn about many topics related to major phenomena and techniques in the field of chemistry. It is important to acquire the necessary experimental skills and to solidify the knowledge learned in other lecture subjects by conducting experiments with your own hands. Even students with little experimental experience up to high school can acquire sufficient experimental skills with detailed guidance.

Specialized Seminar (Isozaki Seminar)

At the Isozaki Seminar, we conduct investigations and research on chemical phenomena involving light. How can we freely manipulate light, observe chemical changes in molecules, and create molecules with functionality? Starting with group reading of the text, participants will decide on a theme and conduct literature research and experiments to explore the topic. Additionally, we strive to summarize the insights gained from major seminars and conduct demonstration experiments at open campus and off-campus Events, thereby contributing the outcomes of our learning to society. I chose this program as my major because I want to work in a field related to cosmetics or pharmaceuticals in the future. One of the attractions of the chemistry program is that, in addition to lectures on specialized chemistry content, there are many lectures that allow me to strongly feel the connection to human society. For example, I learned that some commonly used medical devices apply the basic principles of chemistry that I learned in class, which I found very interesting. I am also considering going on to graduate school after graduation, and I am receiving guidance in that area as well.
