Education system

Since its founding, J. F. Oberlin University has focused on educational research activities centered on language and international education.

The goal is to ensure that each student acquires a high level of proficiency in a language other than their native tongue, to guarantee a specialized learning system based on their individual interests and concerns, and to cultivate the qualities necessary to thrive and find fulfillment in a globalized international society.

To achieve this goal, we are developing an educational system based on a cluster-based academic structure.

 

Furthermore, in foundational education, all incoming students participate in a basic education program designed to equip them with fundamental skills and learning methods. After that, students select subjects that interest them from the specialized courses offered by each academic group to create their own learning style.

 

While there are required courses for each major, our university's fundamental educational approach encourages students to think for themselves and build their own learning plan in consultation with faculty and staff.

Furthermore, learning is not completed solely through lectures and discussions in the classroom or through learning activities within the university.

To deepen your learning, it's important to step outside the campus and gain experience in various fields. To this end, we offer a variety of programs, including long-term study abroad programs lasting six months or a year, overseas training programs ranging from two weeks to one month, and study abroad programs unique to each faculty.

We offer fieldwork opportunities in various fields and encourage students to participate in at least one of these programs during their time at the university. Some academic faculties also incorporate overseas study into their curriculum.
