The "Fighters Girls," who have garnered significant attention in recent years for their performances such as the "Fox Dance" at the baseball stadium, held an audition in December 2023 with an astonishing 24:1 ratio of applicants to available spots. Ruka Yamaguchi was one of the few to successfully pass this highly competitive audition. After graduating, she worked as a domestic ground staff member at Haneda Airport, but she began to question what she truly wanted to do. "Becoming a Fighters Girl has been my dream since childhood. I was anxious, but my colleagues at work and friends from university encouraged me, and I decided to take on the challenge."
Yamaguchi's motto is a phrase she heard from a baseball team member during her university days when she was the team's manager: "It's better to regret doing something than to regret not doing it."
"Looking back, both when I moved to Tokyo from Hokkaido to attend university and for this audition, I felt that I would regret it for the rest of my life if I didn't choose this path. Whenever I'm unsure, I always choose the option that excites me."
Ms. Yamaguchi says that it was a major life decision, but she has absolutely no regrets. In her work, she utilizes the hospitality and communication skills she cultivated as a domestic flight ground staff member, based on her experiences and learning during her university days.
"I'm a stadium tour guide at Escon Field, and I feel a great sense of fulfillment when customers tell me, 'That was very easy to understand.' I'll never forget the time a customer waved enthusiastically and said, 'Thank you!' as we walked around the field after a match."
As a Fighters Girl, Ms. Yamaguchi brings energy to fans and the local community. She will surely continue to pursue "excitement" in the future.

The irreplaceable time I spent in the baseball club: During my university years, it was my teammates in the baseball club who supported me through tough times.
