Main content

Genki Noguchi dedicated himself to breakdancing since high school and won an international competition in London during his university years. However, while performing on the stage he had always dreamed of, he felt his own powerlessness.
"During my stay of just over a month, I experienced various hardships, including being scammed and robbed. I keenly felt that I wanted to grow more as a person and that I needed to pay more attention to things other than dance."

Witnessing the widespread adoption of Skype in London, I instinctively felt that the internet age was upon us. What unexpected action did I take upon returning to Japan...?
"I directly requested meetings with the presidents of venture companies. I visited about 100 companies, listening to their perspectives as business leaders and organizing my own thoughts. Looking back, I think I was a rather arrogant young man. A book by Masayoshi Son that I read at the time also made a strong impression on me. It was similar to my own thinking as a breakdancer, constantly searching for how I could compete on a global level and what kind of expression only Japanese people could create. I felt that I could apply my way of thinking to business as well."

Ultimately, he joined Yahoo! Japan Corporation. Three years later, he left the company and, through a fortunate turn of events, moved to the United States, but things didn't go smoothly there.
"The fashion school I helped launch was constantly in the red, and I was laid off. After that, I established a company while working in the apparel trading business. At that time, I was determined to do anything to make a living! Currently, I focus on digital marketing and mainly support Japanese companies aiming to expand their businesses in the United States. As a challenger myself, I hope to be able to help everyone who is challenging the world."

Ms. Noguchi has overcome various challenges with her extraordinary drive and determination. No matter what adversity she faces in the future, she will surely find her own unique way of doing things and forge her own path.
