A Study of Brand Theory (Underground) (Otsuka Seminar)

Why are counterfeit goods bad?

"Counterfeit" is bad. That should be undeniable. However, there are people who buy counterfeit goods knowing they are fakes. Why do these people think "it's okay to buy a fake"? Do they think that "counterfeit" goods have the same value as "genuine" goods? What do people even look for in "genuine" goods in the first place? In this seminar, we are researching whether "counterfeit" goods can provide the same things that people look for in "genuine brands."

Learning points

  1. The power of observation to find meaningful facts from the "scene"
  2. The logic of interpreting and explaining "facts" with "theory."
  3. The habit of supporting an opinion with multiple facts.
