Research lab activities: Developing personal strengths while conducting research on social issues and leadership.

In this research lab, we strive in our seminar activities with the ultimate goal of "developing your own selling points, strengths, and core identity" so that people will say, "If you want to know about [topic], ask A!" and "becoming like Sakana-kun!"

I delve into social issues and business leaders that interest me, while scientifically analyzing my passions from an original perspective and sharing my findings. This process is not easy, but it leads to the development of my core strengths.

Seminar activities are conducted jointly across different academic years. Joint seminars are excellent training from the perspectives of team building and leadership, for example, as a place to practice techniques for cooperation and healthy competition, creating a positive atmosphere, and boosting motivation. If there are any ideas for projects that you would like to enjoy, we welcome students to propose them and take the lead in making them fun.

Learning points

[Self-dialogue] Through past experiences, strengths, hobbies, and interests, clarify what concerns you, your region, people, and social issues. In this process, be sure to keep your own life design and career design in mind.
[Output] Ultimately, the goal is to produce written output such as a graduation thesis or research report, but first, students will repeatedly practice persuasive oral output. As practice for persuasive output, students will also challenge themselves to teach a class on a topic they are good at, rather than just giving a presentation.
[Active exchange of opinions and participation] Don't just present on the issue or listen to presentations; take ownership of the issue, think about it (participate), and actively lead questions and discussions.
[Reconfirming the definition of "scientific" and "academic"] Let's reconfirm the following points learned in the first year: The difference between opinion pieces, essays, and scientific/academic writing.
[Original Proposition Setting] Instead of stating things everyone says, things that others might say, or things that a generative AI might summarize, we will establish our own original propositions and hypotheses and scientifically verify them.

This seminar goes beyond pure management studies or tourism studies, exploring issues such as the balance between economics and ethics, and between private and public interests. Students who are interested and have genuine motivation are welcome. This seminar provides meticulous support in developing your strengths and core values in a small group setting. It may be a tough seminar with many tedious demands, but the things you see, the possibilities you discover, and the confidence you gain after persevering and climbing the ladder are truly exceptional! Let's follow in the footsteps of the students who tell us this and take on this challenge. While some graduates have gone on to careers in tourism and hospitality, this seminar has produced graduates who are active in government agencies, as entrepreneurs, and as university staff. After graduation, alumni maintain relationships with each other as working professionals, offering advice and support on their careers.
