From agriculture to restaurants: Examining the food business from an accounting perspective.

We all took a photo with the magnificent nature of Tokunoshima as our backdrop.

In the Shinohara Seminar, students develop the ability to think about food-related businesses from an accounting perspective. Every year, students conduct group research and analysis based on the following three themes, deepening their learning by receiving direct feedback from company representatives.

・Management analysis of university cafeteria (J. F. Oberlin University Shinjuku Campus)

• Use of accounting in agricultural management

- Improving the management of small and medium-sized restaurants

A key feature of this seminar is that it visualizes the entire flow of food, from production (agriculture) to manufacturing and sales, through accounting. We understand the challenges on the ground that lie behind the numbers and think about solutions ourselves. In addition, in the spring of the second year (February-March), we hold a seminar camp in Tokunoshima, Kagoshima Prefecture. Through interviews with local farmers and practical research on the use of accounting in agricultural management, we can experience the realities of business management that cannot be learned in the classroom.
