John Kotelawala, President of the General's College of Defence (KDU) in Sri Lanka, has been awarded a doctoral degree.

On Tuesday, June 30th, at the J. F. Oberlin University Shinjuku Campus, a doctoral degree conferment ceremony was held for Mr. Dammika Kumara, President of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) and Rear Admiral HGU Dammika Kumara, which was presented by our university's president, President Hatayama.

 

On the day of the ceremony, in addition to faculty and staff of our university, past participants of the "Overseas Business Training (Sri Lanka Tourism and International Cooperation)" and "Overseas Business Training (Sri Lanka Beauty & Wellness)" programs also attended, creating a solemn yet warm ceremony that symbolized the friendly relationship between the two universities.

 

At the ceremony, expectations were expressed for the further development of educational and research exchanges between Sri Lanka and Japan, and between KDU and our university. It was also a valuable opportunity for the students to feel firsthand the significance of international exchange and academic collaboration. Interacting with university officials from overseas after returning home seems to have served as an opportunity to further deepen their understanding of different cultures and their international perspectives.

 

J. F. Oberlin University will continue to promote collaboration with overseas educational and research institutions, actively providing learning opportunities for students to succeed globally.

 

Additionally, our university College of Business Management offers two practical and practical courses each year: 'Overseas Business Training (Sri Lanka Tourism and International Cooperation)' and 'Overseas Business Training (Sri Lanka Beauty & Wellness)' for visiting Sri Lanka. These practical and practical courses are available to students in their second year and above, regardless of academic discipline, and are popular programs where students can learn practical and authentic international business and cross-cultural understanding through exchanges with local companies, government agencies, educational institutions, cultural experiences, and fieldwork.

 

Both universities share the understanding that these programs are meaningful not only for our students but also for many students in Japan. Therefore, we are currently developing a scheme to allow students from other Japanese universities to participate in the future. Students interested in Sri Lanka are encouraged to consider participating.
