Main content
College of Business Management At the Iwatari Seminar, on June 10, we invited Asahi Group Holdings to give a lecture on marketing, product planning, and global business.
In the lecture, I learned about changes in the alcohol market, marketing concepts, the product planning process, and global marketing.
In the lecture on global marketing, I learned about the importance of adjusting taste, pricing, and advertising to suit each market, given that consumer values and needs differ from country to country and region to region. It was an opportunity to understand that for companies to expand their products globally, they need to consider strategies that are appropriate for each country and region.
Furthermore, regarding the product planning process, Asahi Group used their beer brands as an example to explain the actual planning and development process in detail. We learned specifically about the importance of analyzing market and societal changes to determine what kind of product consumers will choose, how to define target customer profiles (personas), and how to think about advertising strategies.
At the end of the lecture, a workshop was held where students were divided into groups to work on planning and proposing new alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages for university students and young professionals.
Each group presented a variety of ideas, including products that combine music and alcohol, products inspired by teatime, and products that can be customized to individual preferences.
Through this lecture and workshop, I learned that marketing and product planning work requires a deep understanding of consumer needs and a perspective that creates new value. Furthermore, actually developing a plan provided a valuable opportunity to experience both the excitement and the challenges involved.
Thank you, Asahi Group Holdings, for your valuable presentation.
