J. F. Oberlin University About the Publishing Event

A treasure trove of modern knowledge for the next 100 years.

"J. F. Oberlin University Publishing House" is the name of the publishing department of J. F. Oberlin University and Affiliated Schools.
At our academy, which aims to nurture cultured and discerning international individuals, J. F. Oberlin University Publishing was founded with the awareness of its mission to serve as an intellectual leader in the era of globalization, set the guidelines for the next "symbiotic society," and create intellectual property that should be passed down to future generations.
To fulfill this mission, we publish the "J. F. Oberlin University Series" as a source of communication for educators and researchers and a treasure trove of modern liberal arts, and we also launch a publishing grant application program that opens doors widely to researchers and faculty both inside and outside the university.

Main business

J. F. Oberlin University Series Publication Business

More than 100 years have passed since our founder, Yasuzo Shimizu, established this university in 1921, driven by his desire to cultivate global citizens who possess empathy for their neighbors. During this time, the university has grown to a size of 10,000 students, meeting the demands of the times.
On the other hand, in an era often described as lacking philosophy, as we look ahead to the next 100 years, the spirit of "learning and serving others," a phrase frequently uttered by our founder, still shines brightly, and we believe it is an urgent task to pass it on to future generations.
As a source of inspiration for educators and researchers with advanced intellect and insight, as a treasure trove of modern liberal arts, and as a guideline for young students to not lose hope even in the face of difficulties. To open up new horizons, the J. F. Oberlin University series has been published with great anticipation.

Public offering of publishing grants

This project, launched in fiscal year 2020, aims to maintain and enhance academic status, enhance publishing activities for educators and researchers related to the school, and promote intellectual property by publishing high-quality academic books. As of 2025, 19 books by researchers and faculty from inside and outside the university have been accepted and published in the J. F. Oberlin University series.

J. F. Oberlin University Regarding the Publication of the Series

July 2020 J. F. Oberlin University and Affiliated Schools Former Chairman: Toyoshi Sato
Founder Yasuzo Shimizu aspired to "nurture internationally minded individuals who can empathize with their neighbors."
Our university was founded in 1921, and we are about to celebrate our 100th anniversary.
During this time, our university has grown to a scale of 10,000 students in response to the demands of the times.
It was accomplished. On the other hand, when looking ahead to the next 100 years in an era said to be lacking philosophy,
The spirit of "learning and serving others," which the founder often uttered, still shines brightly today.
I believe it is also a matter of urgency to pass this on to the next generation.
Just as a single seed can produce countless flowers, a single book can touch the hearts of many. Hopefully, it will be of a high quality.
As a source of information from educators and researchers possessing intellect and insight, as a treasure trove of modern culture, and further
It serves as a guide for young students to never lose hope even when faced with difficulties, opening up new horizons.
I'm looking forward to it.
To achieve this goal, we are confidently publishing the J. F. Oberlin University series.
