Tuition fees
Q.How much are the tuition fees?
A.
Tuition is 250,000 yen per semester. During the pre-enrollment period, you will pay 500,000 yen for two semesters' tuition, 100,000 yen for the entrance fee, and 30,000 yen for student services fees, totaling 630,000 yen.
Even in cases such as the non-issuance of a Certificate of Eligibility for Residence Status or withdrawal from enrollment, the enrollment fee and student service fee will not be refunded.
Q.If I enroll and am accepted into another university during my first semester, will my tuition for the second semester be refunded?

The refund will be issued after the internal university procedures are completed.
Residence status and immigration-related matters
Do you apply for the Certificate of Eligibility yourself?
Institute for Japanese Language and Culture The office will apply on behalf of the student.
I have a history of denial of a residence status. Can I apply to Institute for Japanese Language and Culture?
Generally, reapplication is possible only if the application was denied by our institution, and the reason for denial is clear. If you have a history of denial at another school, please contact us by email.

How many years can I stay at Institute for Japanese Language and Culture?
After completing the initial year (1 year: 2 semesters), extensions are possible every six months (1 semester). Extensions are subject to certain conditions, such as attendance and academic performance. The maximum enrollment period is two years from the initial year. If you advance to the next grade after six months of enrollment, the remaining semester's worth of tuition will be refunded.
Institute for Japanese Language and Culture do you handle visa applications?
Institute for Japanese Language and Culture applies for the "Certificate of Eligibility" on behalf of the successful applicant. Once your residence status is approved, you must apply for the visa at the Japanese embassy or consulate in your local area.
Is there an airport pick-up service?
If you arrive at Narita Airport on a date and time designated by the university, a pick-up service will be provided.
Classes and student life
Are there any classes to prepare for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) or the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU)?

How long are the classes each day?
While it varies from person to person, most students have classes from the first to the third period (8:50 AM to 2:50 PM).
Are there student dormitories?
There is an international dormitory near the Machida campus, but not at the Shinjuku campus.
Can I work part-time?
We cannot introduce you to part-time jobs, but you can find part-time work once your Japanese reaches a certain level.
A "permission to engage in activities outside of one's visa status" is required.
Can you help me find a part-time job?
I haven't introduced it.
Are there designated smoking areas at the school?
No, smoking is prohibited throughout the campus.

If I study at J. F. Oberlin University Institute for Japanese Language and Culture, can I be given priority admission to J. F. Oberlin University?
In principle, those who meet the J. F. Oberlin University evaluation criteria can enter J. F. Oberlin University.
This does not mean it is a priority.
If you advance to J. F. Oberlin University, the admission fee is waived.
Where do people who studied Japanese in J. F. Oberlin University Institute for Japanese Language and Culture go on to school?

Are there any scholarships available?
Currently, there are none.
What countries are the students studying in the special program from?
Many of our students are from China. We also have students from Vietnam, South Korea, Thailand, and other countries.
