Enrich your life with a parallel career!
In this era of 100-year lifespans, there is a need to shift from the traditional linear life model of "school ⇒ employment ⇒ retirement" to a model of career changes tailored to individual life stages. A parallel career, as the name suggests, is a state where "multiple careers" run parallel. It is a new way of building a career where you have a main job while building a completely different career through other activities. By realizing a parallel career, you can confront the essence of "how to live a fun and fulfilling life" without being confined to a single milestone like retirement. Side hustle? Multiple jobs? Or starting a business? Or perhaps volunteering to begin with? There are many forms, but the goal of this program is for each participant to consider their ideal lifestyle and make it a reality.

Side jobs and entrepreneurship—these are probably keywords that everyone has thought about at least once. But how do you make it happen? But many people are busy with their main jobs and find it hard to put them into action. This program features practical instructors who are 'professionals in teaching' who teach at universities and graduate schools, delivering rigorous yet enjoyable and loving lessons. A major feature is that they work together to figure out "what, how, and how" to achieve it. A feedback session is provided six months after completing the program, where teachers and participants can check with each other whether they have achieved their ideal careers and resolve various issues and challenges that arise during the six months. The venue is the J. F. Oberlin University Shinjuku Campus in the heart of Tokyo. Why not take a short trip to Tokyo on a Saturday morning and spend time with your peers to carefully consider and shape your career at a campus equipped with the latest facilities just completed in 2019?

Syllabus
| Course Overview | This course aims to help participants develop detailed business models and implementation plans for their envisioned "mini-entrepreneurship" or "parallel career" plans, guided by practitioners and external experts (strategy consultants). Through learning about targeting, marketing, financial planning, and the practical aspects of company establishment and tax issues, participants will learn how to refine their business models. Furthermore, after the program concludes, the goal is to build a network of alumni by accumulating alumni profiles and fostering interaction among alumni entrepreneurs. | |

After graduating from university, worked at financial institutions and management consulting firms before joining J. F. Oberlin University. A parallel worker who teaches lectures on business strategy and M&A, while also actively engaging in activities outside the university. In band activities with colleagues, he played bass and keyboard. A former rugby player in his second year living in Kamakura who deeply loves the sea and history.

After graduating from university, I worked at a financial institution before moving into the consulting industry. In consulting, I handled a wide range of industries, including apparel, food service, and department stores. I traveled all over Japan for business trips, enjoying casual, affordable cuisine along the way. Lately, I've been hooked on Pokémon with my daughters on my days off.

- We will close registration once the maximum number of participants is reached. The questionnaire on the application form is intended to allow the instructor to understand the content in advance so that we can provide better follow-up support, so please answer as specifically as possible.

We will send pre-course information to those who have completed payment. [Scheduled for around September 9th (Fri)]
- We will send you information necessary for taking the course, such as how to contact the instructor, the classroom for the first lesson, and Wi-Fi setup instructions, so please be sure to check it.

Classes begin [October 1st (Sat)]
- Your instructor will support you, so please try to relax and not be nervous.
Precautions
- We do not accept refunds after payment has been made.
- Please join Slack before the first class. You can join via the URL provided in the pre-course email.
- We will be using laptops for lessons, so please bring yours to every class. We do not lend out laptops.
- Assignments will be given for each class and will be due at the next session. Please be sure to complete them.
- We will be conducting hybrid classes, but for a more effective learning experience, we recommend attending in person whenever possible.
- If you will be completely absent from class, including online classes, please contact us in advance via Slack.
- Please be sure to watch the archived video of any class you missed before the next class.
