Degree Program in International Academic Research [Doctoral Program]
Diploma Policy
This program is primarily intended for those aspiring to become researchers or university faculty members, and assumes prior study at the master's level. Building upon the academic theories acquired in the master's program, it aims to cultivate the knowledge and skills expected of professionals, as well as higher-order thinking skills.
In accordance with the Graduate School's "Policy on Completion Certification and Degree Awarding," this program awards a Doctor of Philosophy (Academic) degree to those who have fulfilled the prescribed period of enrollment and number of credits, passed the doctoral dissertation examination and final examination, possess an international perspective, and have acquired advanced specialized knowledge and abilities in their respective fields as independent academic researchers or highly skilled professionals.
Curriculum Policy
Based on the graduate school's "Policy on Curriculum Organization and Implementation," the humanities and social sciences fields are divided into Psychology Research Area and Business Administration Research Area. It provides research guidance tailored to each field, and has organized curricula that foster independent academic researchers or highly skilled professionals.
① Characteristics of the curriculum
It is developing as a new academic and advanced specialized field capable of responding to the diverse demands of a globalizing society.
② Educational methods and implementation system
While the master's program (first stage of doctoral studies) primarily consists of lectures, the doctoral program (second stage of doctoral studies) is structured around seminars as its main method of education, and focuses entirely on research guidance for the preparation of the doctoral dissertation.
At each semester, students complete the "Specialized Seminars I, II, III, IV, V, VI" located in their respective research Area, enabling them to acquire advanced research skills and the rich knowledge that forms their foundation while preparing for doctoral dissertation. However, individual research guidance is provided separately from the "specialized seminars."
③ Evaluation of learning outcomes and research results
The doctoral dissertation will be developed through academic efforts such as researching previous studies, setting an original theme, and collecting relevant materials. Research progress will be checked through interim presentations of the doctoral dissertation during "Specialized Seminar II" and "Specialized Seminar IV." In the semester in which graduation is expected (as early as the 6th semester), students will take "Specialized Seminar VI" to receive guidance for the final completion and submission of their doctoral dissertation. Submitted dissertations will be evaluated in accordance with the "Completion Certification and Degree Awarding Policy" of this degree program.
