Raise your hands, Alumni and Students
Times have changed dramatically.
This is an era where anyone can freely express their thoughts and ideas in tangible form. An era where people can boldly pursue what they value at any given time. An era where knowledge and skills can be flexibly integrated across different fields.
The perfect environment for creating new value is rapidly being established.
J. F. Oberlin University has a school motto called 'Gakuji Jin' (Learning and serving people). It is the teaching: 'Keep learning, do your best for people and society, be grateful, and become someone who is appreciated.' Those who have received education at Obirin based on this philosophy are called Alumni and Students.
Alumni and Students is characterized by setting high goals and standards, working hard, possessing tolerant and flexible thinking, facing difficulties with a positive attitude, never giving up on dreams or goals, and acting with strong convictions—a free-spirited individual.
The school song includes the poem "Alumni and Students, raise your hands," which seems to inspire the path to overcoming the hardships of this era and reaching glory.
Believing that by enhancing each individual's potential, acquiring solid knowledge and skills, and giving back to people and society can we create a prosperous society, J. F. Oberlin University gives back the results of education and research to society. We will provide the best education. It serves as a reliable base for regional and global peace.
We are always striving for new learning and creating new value, and have always been and will continue to develop educational research based on the founding spirit of 'cultivating international individuals based on Christianity,' producing Alumni and Students that can practice learning and serving others globally.

Hiroaki Hatayama
Born in Kagoshima in 1962 J. F. Oberlin University Graduated from the Faculty of Letters (B.A.), completed the master's program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (M.A.), completed the doctoral program at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (Ph.D.) completed the master's program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.B.A.) became a J. F. Oberlin University professor in 2006, and later served as assistant to the president, He has held positions such as Director of the Basic Education Institute, Director of the International Center, and Vice President. In 2018, he became the fifth president. His specialty was rhetoric.
