Mathematics, Data Science, and AI Education Program (Literacy Level)
Even if you're not good at math, it's okay! A program to understand the present and future of the digital society.
Since the 2021 academic year, our university has been implementing a literacy-level mathematics, data science, and AI education program for all undergraduate students titled "A Program to Understand the Present and Future of Digital Society." This program is certified by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's "Mathematics, Data Science, and AI Education Program Certification System (Literacy Level)."
The Mathematical Science, Data Science, and AI Education Program Accreditation System (Literacy Level) is a system in which the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology certifies, selects, and encourages regular courses (educational programs) at universities and other institutions that provide systematic education on knowledge and skills related to mathematics, data science, and AI, in order to increase interest in these fields and to cultivate the fundamental abilities to appropriately understand and utilize them.

Skills that can be acquired through this educational program
The rapid advancement of digitalization and the dramatic improvement of information processing technology are driving a digital revolution across all business sectors worldwide. This program will help you understand how AI and data are being used in today's digital society, and will equip you with mathematical and data science literacy, including the ability to correctly interpret and accurately communicate data. In particular, by understanding how AI and data are being used in the business world, and what future applications are expected, you will acquire the fundamental skills to utilize them in real-world business situations.
Furthermore, in order to respond to the rapid development of information technology (social changes) in recent years, including Society 5.0, AI and data science have come to be widely recognized as new fields of study. This knowledge and experience are necessary for success in the information society, which handles vast amounts of data, regardless of whether one's academic background is in the humanities or sciences.
I'd like to introduce two articles that offer different perspectives on the current state and future of AI and data science. Whether you're from a humanities or science background, if you're interested, please take a look.
