Generative AI, including image generation and conversational AI such as language translation AI, is expected to see continued expansion in its applications, and there is a growing demand for its use in various aspects of society. Our university believes that it is beneficial for students to acquire appropriate usage skills, and therefore we will not uniformly prohibit the use of generative AI.
2. The essence of learning and how to approach the use of generative AI
The essence of learning at university lies in you, the students, establishing and refining your own unique and original forms of expression based on logical thinking. Relying on others for important expressions when creating exam answers, papers, assignments, etc., is considered an abandonment of learning, and this applies even if the source of that reliance is a generating AI.
Before using generative AI in your studies at this university, please ensure you develop sufficient critical thinking skills regarding the output of generative AI. The ability to fully understand the output of generative AI, point out errors or inappropriate parts, and make necessary corrections is essential for the proper use of generative AI.
However, in situations such as classes where you learn new knowledge or skills, your critical thinking skills may be insufficient to handle the output of the generative AI. In such cases, it is important to refrain from using the generative AI in order to avoid missing out on appropriate learning opportunities. If you have any questions about using the generative AI, please consult with your instructor. There may be specific rules and restrictions regarding the use of the AI in exam answers, papers, and assignments, so please check them in advance if you plan to use it.
3. Points to note when using generation AI
Using information generated by AI may lead to copyright infringement, leakage of confidential/personal information, and other risks. Because AI may not adequately provide source information, users are required to have sufficient knowledge and measures in place to mitigate these risks. Please be aware that information leaks may occur and various damages may result from the learning and dissemination of the information entered during generation.
