Mei Baojiu, who received an honorary doctorate from J. F. Oberlin University in 2012, passed away on April 25. He was 82 years old.

Mr. Mei was a noted performer of Peking opera, and he directed the Mei Lanfang Peking Opera troupe, named after his father, who was also a star of Peking Opera.

Mr. Mei contributed greatly to the performing arts and to Japan–China relations. He was a great friend of J. F. Oberlin University and Affiliated Schools, and we are deeply saddened by his passing.
