President Mitani delivered the commencement address, and remarked, “Commencement means the beginning not the goal. Your days may not always be good, but will often be challenging and tough. However, there is no doubt that someone or something will help you on your journey. Reverend Yasuzo Shimizu, the founder of J. F. Oberlin University, loved the bible verse, ‘We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair.’

President Takayasu Mitani

God will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. In any circumstances, I hope you travel down your pathways remembering this verse. J. F. Oberlin University is proud of all of you, and will continue to support your journeys. Good luck!”
