J. F. Oberlin University’s cheer dance team, Cream, scored more triumphs at the United Spirit Association Nationals in Japan 2014, held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture on March 28. Cream’ (“Cream Dash,” the group’s B team) won the Pom Division for large teams from universities while the A team placed second in the Open category.

Maimu Komiya, the captain of Cream and a third-year student in the College of Health and Welfare, commented, “The A team showed its strength, and we were disappointed not to end up in first place. The B team did capture first, but we’re confident that we can perform even better. We’ll keep that thought in mind as we continue to practice and head into future competitions.”

With their excellent finishes on the 28th, both the A and B teams earned invitations to two competitions in the U. S.: the IASF Worlds Club Team Championships, to be held in May this year, and the WUCC World University Cheerleading Championships, to be held in January, 2015. Both competitions will take place in Orlando, Florida.
