Soccer Club Captain: Ryusei Adachi

With a team-first approach, they aim to join the Kanto League.

Switched to goalkeeper in the 5th grade of elementary school.

I started playing soccer in the second grade of elementary school after being invited by a friend. I switched to goalkeeper in fifth grade and have since defended the goal at the back of the team.

I was unsure whether to continue playing soccer at university. But I couldn't give up my beloved soccer, so I went to J. F. Oberlin University, which accepted practice sessions. I was drawn to the warm, homey atmosphere and the university's policy of "strengthening the team from now on," which led me to enroll.

I'm not a player blessed with physical attributes. I actively raise the defensive line high and make sure not to let the opponent take shots when I go into matches. Right after enrolling, I felt the high level of university soccer, but by focusing wholeheartedly on practice with the determination to 'not lose with my mindset,' I gradually started to get playing time.

Having achieved promotion to the first division, we are now heading towards our next goal.

Time flies—J. F. Oberlin University is now in my third year joining the soccer club. These two and a half years have been incredibly intense. Especially in the 2024 season, we achieved our goal of being promoted to the Kanto University Soccer League Division 1. We played 18 matches, scored 60 goals and conceded 9, and had a stable season both offensively and defensively, strengthening the team's unity and allowing us to fight through the league.

In the 2025 season, I will be the captain and lead the team competing in the first division. I'm not the type to show leadership, but I keep having discussions with the coach, coaches, and staff to ensure smooth communication among them.

Fortunately, J. F. Oberlin University 's lineup is almost unchanged from 2024. We know the playing styles of our teammates well, so coordination has become smoother. After promotion, after 14 matches, we have 8 wins, 2 draws, and 4 losses. There are still challenges, but we are optimistic that we are in a position to aim for the top ranks.

The team's challenge is to raise everyone's defensive awareness. Especially switching between offense and defense should be quick. Even after losing possession, they should quickly win back the ball and create as long attacking moments as possible. The top teams in the first division are also strong in ball duels, so winning one-on-one situations is crucial.

Things I realized after getting injured

Last year, I injured my leg and hip joints. My condition is far from fully healing, and sometimes I feel down, thinking, "Maybe I won't be able to play the way I want anymore."

During periods when I wasn't playing, I supported the team as staff. There, I noticed the dedicated attitude of members who contribute to the team every day. The manager prepares for practice without complaint. The sub group who doesn't play in matches fully embodies themselves as their next opponents and approaches the game simulation. I am truly grateful to the members who always put the team first.

Our goal for the 2025 season is to secure a spot in the Kanto League. To achieve that, we need to finish in the top three in Division 1. We want to embody the team concept of 'football that leaves a lasting impression, football that moves the heart,' and will fight through using J. F. Oberlin University 's strength, attacking power.

He achieved outstanding individual results and led the team to promotion to the Kanto League.
