I started cheerleading in third grade of elementary school. I originally did dance, but I was moved by the upperclassmen performing together, and I started thinking, 'I want to try it too!' There were strict coaching in the club team, but I encouraged each other with my friends and approached the competition.

I aimed to go to J. F. Oberlin University because I wanted to study in College of Performing and Visual Arts. I was interested in all kinds of arts, including theater, dance, and music, and the fact that I could learn a wide range of subjects was what I was attracted to. Currently, I am studying video and design, and I feel that the knowledge I gained as a general education has been very useful.

Actually, when deciding where to go to university, I was unsure whether to continue cheerleading. But when I was a senior in high school, I happened to face the COVID-19 pandemic, and my last competition was canceled. I thought I would have regrets if I quit competing like this, so I decided to continue cheerleading at university.

Unlike up to high school, in J. F. Oberlin University, students take the lead in creating their training menus. Especially for the third-year students, who are in the executive grade, initiative is required, and they are expected to energize the entire team. When I became the executive grade and was appointed captain, I was honestly confused. I was not good at saying harsh things and lacked the confidence to lead the team. But now, I am gradually beginning to see my own image of a leader. I want to be a leader who leads everyone toward our goals and is also someone who can rely on us when we are in trouble.

J. F. Oberlin University 's performance is characterized by its "cleanliness." We are committed to no mistakes and also emphasize the beauty of the details. J. F. Oberlin University has always valued basic practice, but in our generation, we decided to place greater emphasis on technique practice for tournaments. Although there are still some rough aspects, I feel that raising awareness of techniques has helped raise the team's level.

The slogan for 2023 is 'Josho.' The word 'to bloom' also carries the meaning of a smile, and we practice every day to perform performances full of J. F. Oberlin University-like smiles. Also, 'Josho' is a play on the words 'rise' (aiming higher) and 'constant victory' (always winning over oneself). Heading toward the JAPAN CUP in August, each of us will improve our skills and aim to reach the finals. Some members are injured and we are still far from finished, but since this is our last club activity, we want to give it our all so we have no regrets.

I've been cheerleading since elementary school, and I've always been energized by seeing the older students work hard. Next time, we want to perform in a way that moves the hearts of those who watch. J. F. Oberlin University We will continue to work hard so that our unique qualities can be conveyed to the audience.
