Boys' Volleyball Team Captain: Reiji Teruya

The autumn league is the culmination of everything. I want to achieve my best results ever.

Graduate of Toyo High School

I experienced competing in the national tournament during junior high school.

Influenced by my mother, I started playing volleyball in first grade. At first, it was just an extension of play, but gradually I became deeply involved in the competition and was able to participate in the national tournament in junior high. Unfortunately, I was unable to participate in the national tournament at Toyo High School and endured difficult experiences.

I was considering my future path to continue playing volleyball at university. Among them, J. F. Oberlin University had several seniors from high school and was originally a source of interest as a career path. When I actually joined the trial club and participated in practice, I was attracted to seeing students actively engage in volleyball. I was also drawn to the good relationships among the club members and decided to enroll in J. F. Oberlin University.

Aiming for greater heights with aggressive setting.

Since my first year of university, I've been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to play in matches as a setter. I focus on aggressive setting, including quick attacks, and play a role in controlling the flow of the game as the starting point of the attack. Although I may be blocked by strong opponents, I am expected to encourage my teammates without flinching and lead the team to victory.

We were able to achieve promotion to the second division in the spring league. We experienced some tough matches in the third division, but we were able to achieve our goal of winning all our matches and becoming champions, which was truly wonderful. I feel that this achievement was won not only by the regular members but by everyone who supported the team.

In the autumn league, we'll be competing in the second division, facing even higher-level teams. To cope with the opponents' offensive power, we're focusing particularly on strengthening our blocking and serving. We aim to gain an advantage in matches by consistently getting touches on the ball with organized blocking.

We all want to see more "beautiful scenery"

Currently, the boys' volleyball club has three fourth-year students: one player and two managers. Although the number of classmates is small, as the 2025 school year begins, the three discussed and decided on the slogan "Hyakka Saibou."

J. F. Oberlin University The boys' volleyball team has many members with strong personalities, but rather than "uniting" the team, we hope each individual can fully demonstrate their abilities and talents so that the whole team can flourish. While consciously creating an environment where everyone can play freely, we manage the team with a clear sense of balance.

Building on the momentum from the spring league, we aim to finish in the top six of the second division in the autumn league. Our best previous ranking was 7th place, so we want to break that record. For me, this season will be the culmination of my career. I want to value daily practice and work hard to see even better views with my teammates.

He energizes the team as a key player and mood maker.
