On Thursday, October 25, President Carmen Ambar of Oberlin College, in the U. S. state of Ohio, led a delegation which visited J. F. Oberlin University’s Machida Campus, and the delegation paid a courtesy call on the university’s President Hiroaki Hatayama, Vice-president Yoshiro Tanaka, and College of Global Communication Dean Masayuki Adachi.

Discussions focused on recent
developments at the two institutions.

J. F. Oberlin University’s founder, Reverend Yasuzo Shimizu, attended Oberlin College as a graduate student, and Oberlin College has for several decades been sending teachers and students to J. F. Oberlin University through a program run by the non-profit Oberlin Shansi organization. Oberlin Shansi currently provides three English teachers to J. F. Oberlin for two-year terms.

The delegation visits Gakujikan.

The recent visit grew out of an e-mail correspondence between President Hatayama and President Ambar. Accompanied by the three current Oberlin Shansi fellows and several of their students, the delegation took a tour of Machida Campus.
