Men’s kyūdō team takes third place, wins special prize

At the 30th annual All-Japan University Kyūdō Competition, held on June 23 and 24 at Meiji Shrine in Tokyo, J. F. Oberlin University’s men’s kyūdō team scored a third-place finish as well as receiving a special prize for their outstanding form. On Saturday, the 23rd, 40 universities from across the country competed in the preliminaries, with the best 16 teams competing again on the 24th in a tournament.

Team captain Daiya Kisara, a fourth-year student in the university’s College of Arts and Sciences, commented, “In the recent All-Kantō University Kyūdō Championships, we could do no better than an eighth-place finish, but we turned our disappointment into motivation for this competition. We’ll be doing all we can to bring home the first-place trophy from the All-Japan University Kyūdō Championships in August.”

Team members representing J. F. Oberlin at the competition included Kōtarō Takahashi (College of Health and Welfare, 1st year), Daiki Nakashima (College of Health and Welfare, 1st year), Kazuki Fukabori (College of Arts and Sciences, 1st year), Takahito Hiruma (College of Arts and Sciences, 3rd year), Shō Takatsu (College of Arts and Sciences, 4th year), Kōhei Takayanagi (College of Arts and Sciences, 4th year), and Kentarō Tsuji (College of Arts and Sciences, 4th year).
