Undergraduates’ parents and guardians gather for “Hogosha Fair”

On May 16, over 360 parents and guardians of current J. F. Oberlin University undergraduates gathered at Machida Campus for “Hogosha Fair,” an annual event. This year’s turnout was greater than last year’s, with people coming from all over Japan.

President Takayasu Mitani gave a welcome message, and three vice presidents and other professors delivered short lectures.

• “Student Advising and Student Life” (Vice President Koichi Lee)
• “Global Education and International Exchange” (Vice President Hiroaki Hatayama)
• “Cornerstone Education” (Mariko Matsuda, Director, University College of Cornerstone Education)
• “Career Assistance” (Shinichi Kakegawa, Dean of Career Development)
• “Activities of the Parents Association” (Haruo Iso, Chair, Parents Association)

In the afternoon, parents attended individual colleges’ presentations and individual interviews with faculty and took campus tours led by student volunteers. Many parents remarked that it was a good opportunity to get to know J. F. Oberlin University well.

This event got support from the parent committees in Tokyo and Kanagawa regions and the student volunteers in J. F. Oberlin Co-op. J. F. Oberlin University will have regional meetings in May, June, and July. For the detailed schedule in Japanese, please click here.
