On April 20, 2013, J. F. Oberlin University’s Yotsuya Campus played host to the first “Global Gerontology Symposium.” The symposium was the result of ongoing collaboration between the Gerontology Program at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) and alumnae of J. F. Oberlin’s Graduate School of Gerontology. The theme of the symposium was “For Positive Aging,” and the keynote speaker was Casey Geoller, Gerontology Program Instructor and e-Learning Consultant at CSULB. Speakers from J. F. Oberlin included Prof. Naoakira Niino and three recent graduates of the doctoral program. Drs. Barbara White and Maria Claver of CSULB also sent a video message. The symposium was attended by approximately seventy people, many of them alumnae of J. F. Oberlin’s Graduate School of Gerontology.
