J. F. Oberlin University’s cheerleaders took part in the seventh annual Asian International Open Championships on May 18 and 19, placing sixth in the compulsories and fourth in the Free-style Division. They also were awarded the Best Manners prize and a special judges' prize for serving as a good example to the other teams.

It was the first competition of this academic year for the cheerleaders, and team captain Shizuka Takamatsu, a third-year student in the College of Business Management, said, “We weren’t perfect, and we weren’t satisfied with our performance.” She continued, “We need to work on synchronizing our moves and making them more beautiful. We hope to win our next competition, the Kanto Meet on June 22 and 23.”
