The USA (United Spirit Association) Nationals in Japan 2013, the national cheer dance championship tournament, was held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture from March 23 to March 26, and J. F. Oberlin University’s Songleading team, Cream, brought home top honors once again. Cream’s A team won the title in the Jazz Division of the competition, and the B team won the Pom Division.

The A team had already secured a berth at the world championship tournament, to be held in late April at Disney World in Florida, in the U. S. A., but with their triumph in the Pom Division, the B team for the first time also received an invitation to Worlds 2013. Aya Saito, Cream’s captain, said, “Our goal was for both the A and B teams to go to Worlds. Now that we’ve reached that goal, we have a new one: for both the A and B teams to be number one in the world!”

What’s more, both the A and B teams were awarded the prestigious Varsity Prize, which brings with it an invitation to compete at the WUCC (World University Cheerleading Championships), to be held in January next year.
