At the beginning of every semester, J. F. Oberlin University arranges emergency drills for international students during the orientation period. There is a variety of events, including lessons in using a fire extinguisher and demonstrations of how to protect yourself in an earthquake. This semester, students had the chance to experience a major “earthquake”—in a special vehicle that simulates a quake’s movements.

A student from Australia who never before had experienced an earthquake said, “I learned what I should do when an earthquake occurs. The most important thing is to get under the table first.” The university provides necessary information on the official website.
