The Institute for Japanese Language and Culture was created to prepare international students for study in Japan. There are four courses: one for students bound for graduate school, one for students who want to transfer into Japanese universities as juniors, one for students who want to enter Japanese universities as freshmen, and one for students with research-specific Japanese language needs. The standard time needed to complete these programs is one year, but students may finish in six months if they are admitted to their next academic program, in which case tuition for the following term will be refunded.
